Listening To Audio Books Online Is A Great Diversion

Although I love my work, parts of my job are very tedious. I am a woodworker, specializing in a wide variety of crafts from carpentry to the fine arts.  Being able to make a career working with my hands was in many ways a dream come true, but it also has a downside to it. For every minute of pure craft, every minute of exhilarating artistry, there are about 10 minutes of tedious work. For those 10 minutes, I need something interesting to listen to.

Music can be a good diversion, but sometimes I get sick of it. Sometimes what I really want is a good story. Often I like to listen to radio broadcasts, but more often I just listen to audio books online. When I listen to online audio books, it is like being read to. I have always loved stories, and like almost everyone I know, I learned a love of literature by being read to. When I listen to audio books online, not only do I get to enjoy a great story, but I also get to be read to. It is almost like having my mother in the room there, comforting me.

I used to rent audio books from the library, but I quickly exhausted the possibilities. I had listened to literally every book on tape that they had! That is when I decided to start to download audio books online. Some of them were available for free, but few of them. Then I found a service that would give me almost any book that I wanted for a reasonable monthly price. It was well worth it. When I listen to audio books online, I become more productive, more efficient, and more happy in my work. I consider the subscription fee a part of the cost of doing business. It has worked wonders.

Something about the audio books online is rejuvenating for me. When I download online fiction books and listen to them at work, I am not tired and dragged out at the end of the day. I feel relaxed, comfortable, and happy. My wife has even commented on the change. I used to come home so tired that I would not do anything but lie around for the first hour or so. Now that I listen to audio books online, however, I am just full of energy. I always want to tell her everything about the story that I listened to that day. It really is something!
